Abigail, Media BTEC

Digital & Production

“I’ve always loved film - this course showed me how it’s really made.”

Abigail chose the BTEC in Creative Media because of her passion for film and a desire to understand everything that goes on behind the scenes. The course gave her the chance to explore a wide range of production roles - from filming on location to operating the camera herself.

“It was great to try different aspects of production. I got to be hands-on in every role, which really helped me figure out what I enjoyed most.”

Her favourite project during the course was creating a music video - a chance to blend creativity with technical skill. She also had the opportunity to travel abroad for a work placement in Malta, where she took part in workshops, visited studios and explored various media career paths.

A visit to Pinewood Studios in London was another standout moment. There, she met producers and location managers and saw professional production facilities in action. “It reminded me how many career paths exist in media. That’s when I started thinking more seriously about location management.”

Abigail credits her tutor Liz for keeping her focused and motivated throughout the course: “She really helped me stay on track and keep pushing forward.”

With her BTEC complete, Abigail is heading to LMA to study Media Production at degree level. She’s excited to continue exploring where her interests will take her but knows that whatever path she follows, it will be in media.

“I love it - I know this is the industry for me.”
